Super alloys are also known as high performance alloys. They have the capacity to function under very high temperatures and severe mechanical stress, and also where high surface stability is required. They have good creep and oxidation resistance.

Strengthening of super alloys is performed by solid-solution hardening, work hardening, and precipitation hardening methods. Super alloys contain many elements in a variety of combinations so as to achieve desired results. There are three groups of alloys, namely cobalt-base, nickel-base, and iron-base. All of these can be used at temperatures above 540°C (1000°F).

Inconel 625LCF™ is specifically designed with low cycle fatigue resistance at temperatures up to 649°C (1200°F).

USAGE & APPLICATION OF INCONEL 625 LCF

This means that the alloy has improved cycle fatigue properties and better thermal fatigue resistance. In other aspects such as chemical composition and other mechanical properties the alloy is similar to INCONEL® 625. The alloy is e.g. used for bellows, aircraft exhausts and expansion joints.
